Where is Camp Vick in New York State?

Camp Vick is located on Sandbank Road in Sandusky, NY southeast of Buffalo. It is a rustic children’s camp utilizing both cabins and platform tents for sleeping quarters and provides all the adventures of a typical summer camp. Swimming, boating, sports and crafts are interspersed with Bible study and worship. Children learn about God, and have a great time while they do it! Camp Vick also has a family camping area with full hookups available from May 1- October 16, Spring and fall weekends are available for church youth and adult retreats from May 14- October 16. Camp Vick’s 200 acres provide a scenic, peaceful setting for any retreat or meeting.

What happens when I arrive at camp for registration?

Camp sessions begin with registration at 3:00 (Unless noted otherwise).  When you arrive at camp directions will be provided concerning where to park and how to proceed through the registration process.  At this time campers and parents meet the Director, receive cabin assignments, check in with the Camp Health Director, turn in store and picture money, and meet their counselor.  Camp staff transport luggage to camper sleeping quarters.  We generally have everyone through this process by 4:00 so if you will be late, please call.

What does my camper need to bring?

Small suitcases, backpacks and duffle bags work best. Plastic trash bags rip easily and are hard to identify during check out.  Make sure all personal belongings are well labeled. Be sure to include extra socks and shoes. Remember that temperatures at camp can be slightly cooler than at home.  Campers bringing personal equipment (i.e. cameras, musical instruments, etc.) are responsible for their care and safekeeping.  Expensive jewelry or watches should be left at home Radios, tape/CD/MP3 players, cell phones, and electronic games are not appropriate for camp.  If they are brought to camp, they will be held and returned to the camper at the end of the session.

Remember to LABEL your items!

Sleeping bag and pillow

Pajamas, including one warm pair

Underwear and socks- remember to pack extras!

Shorts; pants/jeans

T-shirts; 2 sweatshirts

Windbreaker or light jacket

Bathing suit and towel

Raincoat or poncho, boots, hat (are a good idea)

2 pairs of shoes (sneakers, only sandals with firm straps are allowed, no flip flops except as shower shoes)

2 towels, hand towel, face cloth, soap, Kleenex

Toiletry articles and a case to keep/carry them in

Laundry bag

Flashlight and extra batteries

Insect repellent may be needed; stick or liquid

Bible, notebook, letter writing materials

NICE, but not necessary: camera and film, water bottle, backpack or fanny pack, hiking shoes, umbrella, book to read during rest hour, favorite stuffed animal…

*Note: be sure to read the camper letter for any week specific items to bring!

Can I get in touch with my child while at camp?

Of course!  Campers love getting mail and there are two different options.  First there is the traditional postal mail.  And secondly, you can send your child a "bunknote" or camper email.  To sign up for bunknotes, please click on the appropriate camp name:  Camp Vick.

Can I view pictures of my child while at camp?

Definitely.  There will be password-protected websites for you to view pictures during the week.  Usually pictures aren't up until Wednesday and you will receive the password at Registration.
